Sketchabilities #83

Hey y'all! I wanted to share my latest layout that uses this sketch from Sketchabilities:

And here is my layout:
This layout was started at my once-a-month scrap club. Each month one of us teaches a new technique or trick. This month, we stamped with celery! Yep, the "roses" on the cardstock were stamped with the stalk of a head of celery.
I then outlined them with my Gelatos in black & white & used a damp paintbrush to blend the colors together.

The wooden tickets are from Prima; the circle banner is from Glitz; the chipboard phrases are from Teresa Collins &  the chipboard flower/vine is from Crate Paper.

This was a really fun and different technique for me & I plan on using it again!!
Thanks for stopping by! I  hope to be back soon to share some stories from Ty's birthday.
Have a great evening!

Little Moments

Happy Sunday everyone! Today I want to share the OTP project from Flying Unicorn's January kit. It is a box containing a 6x6 chipboard mini. I loved this mini album from the moment I opened my Flying Unicorn box!

I used a mix of the Basic Grey papers from the kit to cover the outside of the box. The letters are American Crafts Thickers. I misted some of the KaiserCraft lace and added a resin flower that I misted with Glimmer Mist.

I added tissue paper to the top, the FabScraps butterflies that I also misted then applied Liquid Pearls, the aqua bling and a wooden bauble from  my stash.

I used all of the Magnolia papers from the kit to create the inside pages.

I added some black ink (I don't think I can make a page without black ink splatters!), tags from Fancy Pants (in the kit also) and some older ones from KaiserCraft and some pearls and other small embellies from my stash.

The "M" fell off of this page sometime before I took the picture & I just noticed it! Oops!!

I had so much fun creating this mini and am really pleased with the way it turned out! I love that I now have a special place to showcase pictures of my kids when they were little. All of these photos were taken by my good friend Laura & they are so precious to me.
Thanks for letting me share my project with you. Have a great evening!

"He's Making A List"

And no, I'm not talking about Santa!
Ty & Leah have been on a kick lately about who can & can not come in their rooms. So Ty made a list and taped it to his bedroom wall:
In case you're having a hard time deciphering an almost 6 year old's writing, it says "Mom, sometimes Leah, date (which means daddy), Charley (i.e. Charlie, his best friend)! He feels the need to copy whatever his big sister does & she apparently told him recently that he could not come in his room! I'd like to make a list to put on my wall! HA!

Ty turns 6 tomorrow, which is so hard to believe! He is such a sweet, sensitive, caring little boy who tugs at my heartstrings daily. He told me shortly after Christmas, as his was putting on a new pair of jammies, that they were so soft & said "thank you so much Mommy". Little moments of gratitude like this are so substantial to me. I really believe this little guy has a heart bigger than the sun and his smile lights my world daily! He has blessed our family immensely and I thank God for him each and every day.
His grandmother passed away early today and he is handling it with strength and the candor of a child. He is sad but is so very excited for his birthday! I hope he has an amazing year and continues to shine so brightly!
Good night all!

Birthday Card

Hey guys! Hope you're all surviving this Monday. It is rainy & chilly here. So after work I came home and finished a card that I started yesterday. Wednesday is Ty's 6th birthday!! I started with this sketch from Pretty Little Studio.

Here is my card.

  • I started by stamping the balloons & cutting them out of cardstock. I popped two of them for more dimension.  "Happy Birthday" is also a stamp. I added some Stickles here & there & the garland at the bottom is from Glitz.
  • Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of the evening!

Whispers & Kisses

Happy Saturday to you all! It's a damp & chilly day here, so it's perfect to stay in & scrap. And in my case, finish taking down all the Christmas decorations!  I did manage to finish a layout today though, in between doing laundry also. It's for the color challenge at ScrapFriends. Here is the palette:

And here is my layout:

I started with this gorgeous 7Gypsies paper that I have been hoarding for probably two years! I dribbled white paint all over it then sprinkled in some microbeads while wet. I cut some hexagons from MME paper, dripped some black ink, punched some butterflies from tissue paper & added a few little details to finish it off. The alphas that spell out "whispers" are AC Thickers & the small sticker alphas are from Prima. I am also entering this at Bird is the Word for their current challenge.
Now back to dismantling & cleaning!

SGC Thank You Challenge

Hey y'all! A new challenge is up at Southern Girls Challenges. It is called "thank you kindly". We want to see a project that reflects thanks. Here is my layout:
I used the January kit from Flying Unicorn and started with this sketch from ScrapFriends.

What a great sketch! I love the eclectic feel to it! And I have had a blast playing with this month's kit from FUL. I think it has been my favorite!! It is definitely the one that has best fit my style.
I am hoping to scrap some more with it over the weekend. Right after I take down all the Christmas decorations, clean the house, remove the outside Christmas decorations and go to Ty's first basketball game! HA!! We'll see what I can squeeze in!
Have a good night!

January Challenge

Hey everyone!
I never got around to sharing my challenge for the month over at Flying Unicorn. My challenge is to scrap a resolution or goal. It doesn't have to be for yourself. In my inspiration layout I scrapped my kids' goals for the school year.

Everything here is from the January kit from Flying Unicorn. My journaling is hidden behind the school pictures on tags cut from the fabulous Pink Paislee paper. Leah's goal for this year was to make all A's on her report card all year. Ty's was to make new friends!
I would love it if you joined in the forum challenges over at the Flying Unicorn!
Have a wonderful Tuesday night!!
Til next time, xo

Carpe Diem w/ Flying Unicorn

Hey y'all! Flying Unicorn's kit of the month, Carpe Diem, is by far my favorite!! It is packed full of Basic Grey, Pink Paislee and Fancy Pants. Some of my all time fave manufacturers! I want to share some of the projects I have made so far with this astounding kit.
First up is a card I made for Leah's tenth birthday. I loved  the word-printed paper from PP's Portfolio collection. I also cut the bird from the PP packaging.

Second is a layout that I made also using the Portfolio papers from Pink Paislee. The blue trim is from Ruby Rocket, leftover from the December kit. The "good times" ticket & grey banner are from the Fancy Pants diecut sheet. The flags above the title are from Basic Grey & everything else is from Pink Paislee. How adorable is Ty rockin' out with Leah's pink guitar?!

The last layout I have to share tonight was created with Basic Grey's Serenade collection. I love this one! The colors and patterns are incredible! I masked and misted with Fireworks in tangelo along the side.
I added a lot of paper strips on top of each other going up the page. A few cluster of the oh-so-fun Basic Grey flowers, some lace trim that I colored with Smooch inks.
I made a bow using the Tim Holtz filmstrip ribbon and added some more BG flowers in the middle. This is from one of my favorite photo shoots of Leah at Virginia Beach.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great Sunday night!
